What is better to do, HELP!

Alright, so I'm a senior at high school right now and I really want to go to SU sometime in my life, but I need to figure out when. So here is my question:

Is it better to go to a community college first to get some prerequisites out of the way or just go straight to SU if I'm accepted?

    Thank you all so much!

    Jessica,

It depends, although I'd recommend that if it's feasible for you to go to SU right away, to go for it.

The problem is, however, I'm basically relying on scholarships and financial aid to get into SU because it's very expensive, and my family can't afford to pay the whole tuition...

    Jessica,

We generally have more scholarships and grants (i.e. free money) available for incoming freshmen, vs. transfer students.  I'd apply and see what kind of financial aid package we can offer you.  If it's not feasible, then you can consider other options (such as community college).

As my boss says, 'You can't win if you don't play.'

Also, look around for private scholarships, as well.  You have to be proactive in financing your college education.  Try something like fastweb: www.fastweb.com

    There's Allways a way!

once you get in, the school will help you find that way.

i actually left SU thinking that a different place could be better for me. i only realized once i had left that this school is too good to pass-up.

there is a reason that when thinking about college, finances should take a back seat to finding the right school for you. and if you spend two years out of four, thats two years you'd miss out on.

    "there's allways a way."

good luck and i hope to see you on campus soon.
