Addmissions notification for a spring transfer

I applied to transfer in to the spring 07 quarter and received an email saying that it would take 4 -6 weeks to get a decision. However 6 weeks from the date I received the email spring quarter would have already started. Is there any chance I will find out my status sooner than the 4 - 6 weeks?

As spring is approaching I am getting a little worried about where I can regester for classes.

    Eric,

We process our applications as fast as possible.  In the event that a decision is made after the deadline (particularly if deadlines were missed or pieces of your application were missing), we usually ask if you would like to be considered for the following quarter.

    Eric,

I  hope you read this message in time; but, I thought the same damn thing when I applied. The 4-6 week timeline is there standard response whenever you ask that question.

Me on the other hand, don't take these kinds of things laying down; so I pestured them about twice a week till they finall told me over the phone at admissions that i got accepted. It wasnt till like 2.5 weeks later that I recieved something in the mail.

My suggestion is to follow up with admission on a weekly basis as I did. Then, when you find out whether you got accepted or not, you could go on to pay your deposit, meet with the required counselor (new students) and then register for your classes.

Bottom line, dont wait to hear from them.

Editor's Note:  Our official policy is to not give admissions decisions over the phone, and the only decision that you will receive that is binding is the official letter that is mailed to you.  Tactics of calling twice a  week, GSX, only serve to slow down the application process for every other student.

Unfortunately, there are many factors why an application may take longer than 4-6 weeks; we may be behind in processing applications, we may be waiting on transcripts from you, the faculty who evaluates your file may be too busy to give you an admissions decision, etc.

It is certainly in your right to call every couple of weeks, but calling twice a week is excessive and generally will not expedite the process.
