June is usually a great month in Seattle but this June has been a bit crazy. It’s rained, the wind has blown, and the sun has shined bright. The weather is one of the great things about Seattle because you just never know what you’re going to get. I hear from our trusty weather professionals that the weather is suppose to clear up and be sunny the rest of the summer, I hope so or we going to have an interesting Capitol Hill Block Party.

Congratulations to all of our students that have confirmed, you are part of the largest and most competitive class that we have ever had. Were excited to have you on campus next year!

Here I go I’m going to explain what has been going on the past few months. My sister got married at the End of March, it was a fantastic day for my family and my sister; read applications in March and April; planned four receptions (Spokane, Sacramento, San Jose, and Latino Student Reception), thanks for all of those that attended; I went back home for annual college rodeo, I will have some pictures up soon…….there will be more updates soon.

As far as my exploration of Seattle, that’s going great. I finally signed up for my first Seattle Public Library card and checked out my first two books, I started going to Mariner games and I did my first bike ride to Seward Park.

Not so Lost Anymore

It has been 6 months since I moved to Seattle for those that are counting. Like I mentioned in my previous posts I am trying to get to know the city one activity at time. In the past few weeks I have been to Central Cinema, where you get to watch a movie and eat at the same time, I watched “The Iron Giant,” fantastic movie and fantastic pizza. This weekend my taste buds went on incredible ride to one of Seattle finest Indian restaurants, Bengal Tiger. This was my first taste of India and it was phenomenal. If you get a chance I recommend you visit them, there located at 6510 Roosevelt Way NE.

There is a first time for everything!

It’s that time of the year. In admission office all over the country people are relaxing from the long travel season and getting ready for application reviews. But not here at Seattle University we believe in keeping busy. We’ve started are application reviews for all of our early action applications, thanks to all those that particapted in early action you will be hearing from us shortly.

Not only is there application review, I am also starting to get to know the city. I have made it a goal of mine to experience something new every month. Last week I attended a free concert, that’s right free. At the urging of my roommates I went to see a band called, United States of Electronica or U.S.E. I had never heard of this group before that night, needless to say the concert was amazing. I have never seen a room filled with so much energy. So if you ever get the chance to see them in concert or listen to their music do it. As for the something about Victor you didn’t know before, I am terrified of heights.

Back in Seattle

I am home for one week. It was a great weekend I was able to see friends that I have not seen a quiet some time. I will be in the office all week so if you need any help please let me know. Next week I will be at the Spokane NACAC as well as in the Yakima Valley. So for those students please stop by and say hello. Remember that our Early Action deadline is creeping up. So for those interested please get your application in. I have had a great time being home for those that read my blog from Sacramento, I was drinking my iced white chocolate mocha and guess what it was sprinkling a little bit, so I thought about Sacramento. Now for the Victor Fun Fact of the week, my younger sister graduated from Seattle University this past spring with a degree in History and French. To all of the students that I meet thank you and hope to hear from you soon.

my home away from home

In the past three weeks I have been in Omak, Wenatchee, Yakima, Ellensburg, Quincy, Reno, Tahoe, Roseville, Davis, Sacramento, and I will be Albuquerque and Santa Fe, next week. I started to feel like the Johnny Cash song "I've been everywhere man." I have met wonderful students in each of these cities. But today I felt a bit homesick. I was sitting in a Java Cafe drinking my White Chocolate Mocha, iced of course, reading my newspaper, and I looked out the window and noticed something peculiar. It was raining in Sacramento, I haven't been in Seattle very long, as some of you know, but I have embraced the rain that we get in Seattle so this morning I felt that I was sitting outside sitting outside Cafe Vega drinking my coffee. Next Friday, when I get home I will go out to Cafe Vega look outside the window, it will be raining of course, and I will think that I am in Sacramento. Oh the life of an Admissions Counselor. This weeks fact I have lived in Washington for 26 years and have yet to go up the Space Needle. Adios for now.

Life in the City

Good day to all of you who have taken the time to look at my blog. My name is Victor and I am one of the new Admissions Counselors. I am here to help everyone understand the admissions process as well as to provide a new look at living in Seattle. I moved to Seattle from Ellensburg, which is located in Central Washington. Ellensburg is a great place but it was time for me to go. I did leave a lot of friends and family who I miss dearly.

So far it has been a great adventure being in the city. I have been lost on the bus but yet loved it, attended various festivals; it seems that in Seattle we have a festival for everything, attended Mariner's games, and have visited the Lenin Statue. Seattle has so many things to offer and I feel that as I continue to explore I will find even more.

This weekend though, I will be making my first visit back home since I moved to Seattle. I am excited to see my friends, family and I am extremely excited to see my niece Isa. I am also thrilled to have my mom’s homemade tortillas. I will let all of you know how that goes.
