[Editor's note: This post is the second in a three part Q&A series with recently-elected ASSU officials. Today's interview, conducted by Spectator volunteer writer Ashley See, is with at-large representative Shana Yem. Shana ran uncontested for the position, receiving 28 votes against her and 216 in her favor].
1. The Spectator: First off, where are you from?
Shana Yem: I am from Salt Lake City, Utah.
2. The Spectator: What are you hoping to accomplish this year in your position?
Shana Yem: Being elected the at-large representative entails being the voice for anything pertaining to
Seattle University. Firstly, I would like to expand the Student Savings
Club and start a child care program for SU students,
faculty and staff.
3. The Spectator: What has been your leadership experience thus far?
Shana Yem: I [was] in various leadership roles in
high school. Entering Seattle University, I was part of the First Year
Leadership Institute...last summer I was a facilitator. I am
currently the vice president of finance for the Seattle University
Triangle Club. And I am serving my second year on the Peer Review
Board.
4. The Spectator: What is your favorite aspect of attending Seattle University?
Shana Yem: One of my favorite aspects of Seattle University is the sense of community and [that SU] upholds Catholic-Jesuit values.
