At Seattle University, all of our graduate business degrees (except for Professional Accounting, MPAC), require work experience for admission. For our incoming students in Fall of 2007, the average was 5 years of continuous full-time work experience, .
I recommend a minimum of two years of continuous full-time work experience. Why? To be successful in the classroom, we look for applicants who can share their experiences from the 'real world'. We expect our students to take what they learn in the classroom and from their peers, and apply it to their work environment. As well, to take what they learn in their work environment and apply it to their discussions in the classroom.
When making admission decisions, we consider work experience, undergraduate GPA, and the GMAT test scores. (And TOEFL for applicants where it is required)
